WARNING SIGNS

Signs Your Computer May Have Malware

These are some of the common problems this service can investigate.

Pop-Ups & Warnings

Persistent pop-ups, fake security alerts, unexpected adverts or warnings that keep returning.

Browser Redirects

Searches or websites unexpectedly redirecting you, or browser settings changing without your permission.

Unwanted Programs

Programs, browser extensions or other software appearing that you do not remember installing.

Security Alerts

Antivirus or Windows Security reporting threats, suspicious files or potentially unwanted software.

Strange Behaviour

Unexpected changes, unusual activity or other behaviour that makes you concerned the computer may be compromised.

Something You Opened

You are concerned after opening an email attachment, downloading a file or visiting a suspicious website.

WHAT I CHECK

A Focused Malware Investigation

The aim is to identify suspicious software or changes, remove threats where appropriate and check that the computer is behaving normally afterwards.

The exact checks depend on the symptoms you are seeing and what is found during the appointment.

Symptoms & Recent Activity

Review what has been happening and when the suspicious behaviour first appeared.

Windows Security

Check relevant Windows security status, warnings and detected threats.

Malware & Unwanted Software

Scan for malware and potentially unwanted programs where appropriate.

Suspicious Programs

Review installed software for unwanted or suspicious applications.

Browser Changes

Check relevant browser extensions, redirects and unwanted changes.

Post-Removal Checks

Recheck the computer after removal and confirm whether further action is recommended.

Your Passwords Stay With You

Suffolk Tech Care does not need to know your passwords, PINs or multi-factor authentication codes. You enter your own credentials when needed.

If there are signs that an online account, password or other personal information may have been compromised, I will explain any additional steps you should take.

HOW IT WORKS

Malware Help Without Taking Your PC Anywhere

The appointment is handled remotely at your booked time.

1. Tell Me What Happened

Explain the warnings, pop-ups, strange behaviour or other symptoms you have noticed.

2. Connect Securely

At the appointment time, remote access is started with your permission so I can investigate the PC.

3. Scan, Remove & Check

I investigate the problem, remove threats where appropriate and carry out post-removal checks.

Important Service Limits

Remote malware removal requires the computer to be operational enough for a secure remote connection to be established.

Some security incidents can involve online accounts, financial services, personal data or other systems outside the computer itself. Removing malware from the PC does not automatically resolve those separate issues.

No legitimate support service can guarantee that every security incident can be completely resolved remotely. If further action is needed, I will explain the next sensible steps.
